Rick Evans is a founding shareholder in the San Antonio, Texas firm of Evans & Rowe. He is an AV rated attorney with over 31 years of trial experience.
In 1974, Evans graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University after which he acquired his Juris Doctorate from Cleveland Marshall College of Law in 1977. He graduated from law school with honors (cum laude) and was the Associate Editor of the Law Review. After practicing in Ohio and Colorado, Evans relocated to San Antonio in 1984 where he was a partner in Groce, Locke & Hebdon which he left in 1991 to establish Ball & Weed. In 1998, Evans and several other health care law attorneys resigned from Ball & Weed to form Evans & Rowe in order to focus upon their practice specialty.
Evans has served as General Counsel to the Bexar County Medical Society (the country’s 8th largest physician organization) since 1986 and remains in that role today. He also has been an instructor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio since 1986 where he continues to instruct 4th year medical students on the subject of jurisprudence. He is an officer and Board Member of BexarPac which is Texas’ only county political action committee founded and operated by physicians. He has published hundreds of articles in a variety of journals such as the Texas Bar Journal, Medical Economics, San Antonio Medicine and Texas Insurer. He has given many presentations throughout Texas on behalf of the Texas Medical Association and other health care organizations.
He is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law and was inducted into the American Board of Trial Attorneys (ABOTA) in 1997. He is licensed in Texas and Ohio before both the state and federal bars. He is a member of the Defense Research Institute, The Texas Association of Defense Counsel, the Texas Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the San Antonio Bar Association. Evans also is a member of Mensa. He also is serving his third term as an elected member of City Council in his community.
Evans represents a multitude of health care clients including the Baptist Healthcare System, Christus Santa Rosa Hospital System, The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas Medical Liability Trust, Mutual Assurance, Inc., G.E. Medical Protective, The Doctors Company, C. N. A., St. Paul Insurance Companies, Frontier Healthcare, St. Paul Insurance Companies, and Preferred Physicians among others.
Evans resides in San Antonio with his wife, Rainy. They have three adult children.
